DURHAM, N.C. – The Nicholas School of the Environment will welcome about 170 prospective students to 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû’s campus on March 31 and April 1 for Admitted Students Visitation Weekend.

During the two days, students will learn about the school’s Master of Environmental Management (MEM) and Master of Forestry (MF) professional 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû programs while hearing from faculty, staff and current students on topics ranging from career and professional development to the school’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
 
Jeff Vincent, Stanback Dean of the Nicholas School, will provide welcoming remark to the students Friday at 9 a.m. at Duke’s Searle Center.
 
Other events on tap for the weekend include:

  • A faculty panel discussion on climate change adaptations featuring Deb Gallagher, associate professor of the practice of resource and environmental policy, and Jennifer Swenson, associate professor of the practice of geospatial analysis (9:15 a.m Friday, Searle Center).
  • Information about financial aid opportunities (10:40 a.m. Friday, Searle Center).
  • An overview of Master’s Projects (11:40 a.m. Friday, Searle Center).
  • Sessions presented by faculty and current students about the eight MEM program concentrations and MF 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû offered at the school (2:30 p.m. Friday, Environment Hall and Levine Science Research Center).
  • An overview of dual-91ÉçÇø¸£Àû program offerings.
  • Tours of Nicholas School facilities and Duke’s campus.
  • Information about clubs and organizations at the school.

Students will also be able to learn about life in Durham and engage with alumni about their Duke experience and beyond. They’ll also get a chance to get to know each other and current students at a reception (4:15 p.m. Friday, Environment Hall) and at a campfire in the Duke Forest (8:30 p.m. Friday).
 
The weekend will wrap up with a picnic at 12:30 p.m. Saturday outside Environment Hall, where admitted students will be able to interact with faculty, staff, students and other members of the Nicholas School community.
