DURHAM, N.C. – Michelle Stogner, a 2010 Master of Environmental Management graduate of the Nicholas School of the Environment at 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû, is working this summer as a marine spatial analyst at the site of the Gulf oil spill.

Stogner was hired by Consolidated Safety Services as a marine spatial analyst to work with the Deep Water Integrated Oceans Operations branch of NOAA on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

She is on a ship in the Gulf through June 24, and will return July 5th and again in August.

Stogner  is working on a project to assess the effectiveness of the chemical dispersant that BP injected into the underwater plume, using spatial analysis technology to choose sample locations. In addition she also collects, organizes and distributes the data collected at sea.
