DURHAM, N.C. – Twelve first-year students pursuing Master of Environmental Management or Master of Forestry 91ÉçÇø¸£Àûs at 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû’s Nicholas School of the Environment have been awarded Nicholas Scholarships covering two-thirds of their tuition.

The Nicholas Scholars program is the most prestigious scholarship offered by the Nicholas School. This is the second year the scholarships have been awarded.

Established with funding from five endowments and the Nicholas School’s Annual Fund, the program enables the school to award up to 15 Nicholas Scholarships each year to incoming Master of Environmental Management (MEM) or Master of Forestry (MF) students from diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and academic excellence.

This year’s cohort of Nicholas Scholars includes 12 outstanding students from the Class of 2019 who were selected for the two-year program from a highly competitive field.

They are:
Raquel Bensadoun – who is pursuing an MEM in Coastal Environmental Management,
Andrew Brown – who is pursuing an MEM in Business and Environment,
Michael Fuerte - who is pursuing an MEM in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Health,
Isabel Hillman - who is pursuing an MEM in Ecosystems Science and Conservation,
Rebecca Marx - who is pursuing an MEM in Environmental Economics and Policy,
Laura Landes - who is pursuing an MEM in Environmental Economics and Policy,
Tasfia Nayem - who is pursuing an MEM in Global Environmental Change,
Reed Perry - who is pursuing an MEM in Environmental Economics and Policy,
Alex O’Neill - who is pursuing an MEM in Ecosystems Science and Conservation, and a Master of Forestry,
Daniel Ramirez - who is pursuing an MEM in Water Resources Management,
Megan Williams - who is pursuing an MEM in Business and Environment,
Taylor Minich - who is pursuing an MEM in Ecosystem Science and Conservation, and Master of Forestry.
